PCI-2024: Business Modelling for Secure IoT Environments: From Innovation to Evaluation

Date/Time: December 13-15, 2024
Location: Athens, Greece

Call for participation: NEMO Innovation Camp 2025

Cyber-physical experimentations within the OMiLAB Digital Innovation Environment

logo This tutorial is designed for practitioners, developers, educators, and students, focusing on how innovative business ecosystems are designed, modelled and evaluated in an experimental setting. The OMiLAB Digital Innovation Environment is introduced, specifically adapted to security modelling and assessment requirements within the IoT environment. The tutorial participants will have the chance to observe and participate hands-on in the design phases utilizing a haptic modelling approach supported by the Scene2Model (scene2model.omilab.org) tool resulting in digital business models of the scenario as storyboards. These storyboards are processed and provide input for the modelling phase in the SPN modelling methodology, that supports security assessment and enacts the IoT environment and related services according to the models derived.

Scene2Model also acts as a software-supported environment for co-creation in a Digital Innovation Environment, aiming to break the limitations of the working environment and distributed teams, facilitating the transfer of ideas from the physical to the virtual world.

Tutorial Organizers

Dr Zacharenia Garofalaki is a Teaching Fellow of the Dpt. of Informatics and Computer Engineering, University of West Attica and a researcher of the Dpt. Of Informatics, University of Piraeus. She earned her PhD from the University of Piraeus. Her research focuses on IoT software and security, vehicular networks, ad-hoc networking and cyber-physical systems. She developed the SAPnet platform and has participated as a member of the SAPnet team in the Summerchool NEMO 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024.

Wilfrid Utz is one of the managing directors of OMiLAB NPO (www.omilab.org), the non-profit organization headquartered in Berlin supporting the conceptual modelling community organized around emerging topics with respect to domain-specific conceptual modelling. Wilfrid completed his PhD thesis in 2020 at the University of Vienna in the field of metamodel design and knowledge representation using conceptual structures. He has been involved in numerous international research and innovation projects and gained experience in the field of modelling method conceptualization, design, and implementation of modelling tools using the open ADOxx Metamodelling Platform (www.adoxx.org)
