OMILAB@Hochschule Heilbronn
"Digital transformation of business models, value networks, and enterprise architectures."
We focus on conceptual modeling and the digital transformation of business models, value networks, and enterprise architectures, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and business process innovation.

About the OMILAB Node
The OMiLAB at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences (HHN) is a creative and experimental environment that empowers students and researchers to explore the full potential of conceptual modeling. It combines analog and digital methods to design, simulate, and test business models, processes, and digital solutions in an intuitive and hands-on way.
OMiLAB@HHN is embedded in the Business Information Systems program and will be integrated into various courses, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and modeling. Beyond teaching, it serves as a platform for applied research and regional collaboration. Planned projects with local companies focus on developing digital business models and applying AI in business processes.

Activities
The following, selected activities are organized by the OMiLAB.
OMiLAB@HHN at Business Day 2025
As part of the official lab openings at the Faculty of Business, OMiLAB@HHN presented its methodology to the public during Business Day 2025. The lab showcased how conceptual modeling can be used to design, digitize, and automate business models and processes. Visitors experienced hands-on demonstrations—from paper-based modeling to digital transformation and low-code automation. The integration of physical systems, such as robotic arms, highlighted the lab's applied research focus on digital business innovation.
NEMO2022 - Design and modeling of digital value networks, business models and architectures in the energy domain of the future
Since Germany's nuclear phase-out, the EU's New Green Deal and the Ukraine conflict, the energy industry has been undergoing a profound change that is bringing about a change in market structures and a redesign of business models and supply chains. Due to the dynamic further development of business models, related enterprise architectures and information systems, the energy transition is of particular relevance for IS research. The lecture gives a clear overview of the current situation and highlights the role of conceptual modeling for the coupling of circular economy systems, value creation networks, business models and enterprise architectures.
